Melvin Pereira Profile
I was born in San Jose Costa Rica in 1965. This country is extremely Catholic and my education was based on religious principles. At the University of Costa Rica I studied law for 3 years and then continued my studies at the Escuela Libre de Derecho. In 1987 I started a company called Tectrés Electrónica which imported and commercialized computers at a time when this business was in diapers. Later I entered the Internet and I had a radio program on Radio Monumental 93.5 FM in San José called PC Radio. In this program I talked about the beginning and trends on the Internet. In 1996 I sold virtual reality equipment to the Universidad Latina de Costa Rica and they installed the first Virtual Reality Laboratory in Latin America. With this sale and with the help of the Universidad Latina, I had the opportunity to go to Boston and there to continue researching and studying about virtual reality.
Finally, in 1998, I started to implement more advanced technologies and the integration of e-Commerce with European banks. By 2007 it had managed to develop platforms for hotel reservations and aviation photography portals.
I am a faithful believer that there is an immense distance between numismatics and technology. Usually one tends to see the numismatics as something classic outside the technology and that is very false. Numismatics and technology not only can but also coexist and that’s where I know I’m going to make a difference.
I would like to describe myself as a very straight forward person who likes to take things in his stride in a very level headed manner. Life is quite exciting to me as it has galore of opportunities and experiences to offer and I feel one should always make the right use of it.
Besides numismatics, SEO, WordPress and music; photography is one of my passions. Here some samples of my favorite pictures:
